Henry Decker
Henry (HJ) Decker is vice president of Gas Sales & Supply for DTE Gas, DTE Energy’s natural gas utility. Decker is responsible for the procurement and delivery of natural gas to DTE Energy’s supply customers, and the associated nomination, measurement and control functions. He also leads the sales and marketing efforts in delivering gas and related services to all customers, from residential to large industrial, including the sale of wholesale storage and transportation services to large nonfranchise customers. This also includes responsibility for the CNG vehicle program and the company’s appliance and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) warranty programs.
Decker has been with DTE Energy since September 2013. Prior to his current role, he served as director of Gas Sales and Marketing, director of Strategy and Planning for DTE Electric, DTE’s electric utility, and also director of Corporate Strategy and Development within DTE Energy’s corporate functions. Prior to DTE Energy, Decker was an investment banker in New York City advising energy and infrastructure companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and corporate restructurings.
Decker holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to his professional achievements, Decker is passionate about investing in his local community and serves as treasurer for the United Way of Washtenaw County. Decker is also a board member of the Midwest Independent Retailers Foundation and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America.
